Mark Veldkamp is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in San Diego, California. He owns a private psychotherapy practice where he treats adolescents and adults struggling with issues of general anxiety, social anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, and depression. Additionally, Mark provides expert consulting and training to schools, universities and organizations on violence prevention, crisis response services, risk management, and threat assessment. He worked at UCLA for 8 years, most recently as the Director of Case Management. In this role he developed the student behavioral intervention team and case management system to support at risk students.

In addition to Mark’s psychotherapy practice, he provides training and consultation to schools and organizations looking to strengthen their response to at-risk students and employees. He effectively merges his strong clinical background and assessment skills in his consulting work with organizations to successfully support the creation and implementation of the following:
Multidisciplinary behavioral intervention and threat assessment teams
Case management teams to directly support students and employees in distress, including victims and survivors of sexual violence
Key partnerships between psychological services, law enforcement, student affairs, human resources and healthcare systems to successfully address individuals of concern and those at risk, and those that may pose a threat to themselves or the community.

Background
Mark received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan and his Master of Arts in Community Counseling from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. Mark has extensive experience working as a mental health professional in school and community mental health settings. Mark grew up in Washington State and has also lived in New York City, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles. He is happy to now call San Diego home.
